Araki
Self.Life.Death
Barbican Art Gallery
06 Oct 05 - 22 Jan 06

Nobuyoshi Araki is arguably Japan’s greatest living photographer and certainly most controversial.

Featuring over 4,000 images, Self.Life.Death reflects Araki’s extraordinary breadth of work - from the shocking to the sublime – and includes new work never previously seen. See his poetic scenes of old Tokyo, to evocative images of exotic oriental flowers and erotic photographs of kimono-clad women bound in rope.

The exhibition contains work of an adult nature.
We recommend the exhibition is unsuitable for children and parental guidance is advised.

Araki Film Programme
Wed 5 – Sun 30 Oct

Curated by Araki, this accompanying film season gives a glimpse into his inspirations and obsessions – as well as showing his impeccable taste in films! Highlights include Tokyo Story and Rashomon, as well as films by Rossellini, Fellini, Antonioni and Godard.
