Fifteen-year-old Shelby Knox joins a campaign for sex education in the high schools of the Texas town of Lubbock. Discovering that Lubbock has some of the highest rates of teen pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases in the USA, Shelby, who has grown up in a deeply conservative, religious family, becomes an unlikely advocate for sex education, and begins to challenge the morals and values of her parents, church and community. The Education of Shelby Knox is a moving and inspiring coming of age story about the journey of a teenage girl whose developing awareness profoundly changes her political and religious views.
